In the valley of my heart
The wind blows, the water flows,
And the sun rises
More gently than ever.
My hope feeds the thriving garden
In the pasture I built
Over years of great floods, tears
Of endless loss and longing.
Anger, regrets, and words unsaid
All came to nourish what now grows
And sweeten the fruits of my deeds,
For nothing goes to waste here.
I’ve grown many flowers of faith
Which kept me here for the long,
Long winters, for the nights of doubt
That led me astray, far from this place
And right back where I started.
It was all the path. It always was
And part of me never doubted that.
This is the only world I have.
Time has gifted me the strength
To tend it, to nurture it into
The world I always wanted to live in
And shelter for any and all to share.
